Caleb Sharpe, the lone senior on Post Falls High School’s swimming team, ended his high school swimming career at the recent State 4-A Tournament with solid finishes.

“I have been swimming competitively for five years now (one year of club swimming, four years in high school),” said Sharpe, who is the son of Mike and Shelley Sharpe of Post Falls.

“Swimming has been a real good activity for me, real fun. I feel I have the same ability in all my events.”

Sharpe finished in 12th place in the 50-yard freestyle event at the state tournament, 19th in the 50-yard breaststroke, and his relay team finished in 11th.

Earlier in the season, Sharpe placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle, but he and his coach, Keri Brewer, decided to enter him in the longer races at state.

“High school swimmers have to qualify on time for tournaments (instead of placing in a tournament like team sports), and Caleb has qualified in all of his events for the State tournament,” Brewer said.

“Caleb is soft-spoken and has a profound work ethic,” Brewer said. “I’ve known him for two years now, and his achievement level has obviously grown from last year. He gives his best effort always. He never complains, and he is one of those individuals where his actions speak louder than words, and definitely leads by example.” Sharpe has plans to attend North Idaho College next year, and with no clear field of study chosen, will concentrate on general studies, at least for his first year.
