EWU names scholarship recipients
The following local residents have been awarded scholarships for the 2005-2006 school year at Eastern Washington University.
Christopher Coleman was awarded a $3,000 Academic Honors Scholarship. Coleman, a computer science major, is the daughter of Keri-Lee and Harold Coleman of Spokane. She is a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.
Tracy Confer of Cheney was awarded a $1,000 Alumni Scholarship. Confer, a graduate student studying social work and community health education, is the daughter of Mrs. B. J. Eddy of Spokane. She is a 1971 graduate of Holy Names Academy.
Kristen Craig was awarded a $1,600 Ralph Tieje Scholarship. Craig, who is majoring in English-literary studies, is a 2004 graduate of Central Valley High School. She is the daughter of Julie and Steve Craig of Liberty Lake.
Rebekah Diaz was awarded a $2,500 Transfer Academic Honors Scholarship and a $500 Jenshan Endowed Scholarship. Diaz, a 2003 graduate of Central Valley High School, is majoring in elementary education-health and fitness. She is the daughter of Lee Diaz of Spokane Valley.
Shareen DeRyan was awarded a $1,500 African American Program Multicultural Achievement Scholarship. DeRyan, a 2005 graduate of Gonzaga Prep, is majoring in health. She is the daughter of Juanita DeRyan and Albert Everette, both of Spokane.
Jessica Flexer was awarded a $2,500 Transfer Academic Honors Scholarship. Flexer, a 2001 graduate of West Valley High School, is majoring in education. Flexer is the daughter of Margaret Macy and James Flexer, both of Spokane.
Wendy Frankel was awarded a $2,000 Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories Scholarship. Frankel, who is majoring in biology, is a 1991 graduate of North Central High School. She is the daughter of Barbara Vaughn of Twin Falls, Idaho, and William Vaughn of Filer, Idaho.
Heatherann Franz was awarded a $2,500 Trustees Scholarship. Franz, a 1993 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is majoring in interdisciplinary studies and geography.
Jaclyn Gaddy was awarded a $2,500 Scholastic Honors Scholarship. Gaddy, a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School, is the daughter of Cathy and Jackson Gaddy of Spokane. She is majoring in pre-med.
Joelene Garland was awarded a $2,500 R.V. Baker Scholarship. Garland, the daughter of Charmane Garland of Spokane, is majoring in elementary education. She is a 2001 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.
Jennifer Gilliam was awarded a $1,600 Aretas and Kittiemae Dayton Scholarship. Gilliam, the daughter of Jan Gilliam of Spokane, is a 2002 graduate of Shadle Park High School. She is majoring in elementary education.
Stephanie Goodman was awarded a $1,650 Marilyn Laughbon Black Scholarship. Goodman, the daughter of Ruth and Steven Goodman, is a 2000 graduate of Ferris High School.
Emily Goodner was awarded a $2,500 Transfer Academic Honors Scholarship. Goodner, a 1999 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is the daughter of Barbara and Tracy Smith of Spokane. She is majoring in history.
Kristen Guzman of Spokane was awarded a $2,500 Transfer Academic Honors Scholarship. Guzman, who is majoring in accounting, is a 1994 graduate of Croughton American School in England. She is the daughter of Gail and Robert Barth of La Plata, Md.
Gail Hansen was awarded a $2,000 Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship. Hansen, the daughter of Virginia Johnson of Spokane and the late Gail Herner, is a 1965 graduate of Paradise Valley High School in Phoenix. She is majoring in social work.
Mark Henri was awarded a $850 Benjamin P. Cheney Scholarship. Henri, a 1973 graduate of Tustin High School in California, is the son of Jeanne Aldrich-Ames of Spokane. He is majoring in psychology.
Amanda Hoff was awarded a $3,000 Academic Honors Scholarship and a $1,500 EWU Matching-Spokane Scholars Scholarship. Hoff, a 2005 graduate of Central Valley High School, is the daughter of Susanne and Wayne Hoff of Spokane. She is majoring in education.
Bryce Kingsley was awarded a $500 James and Eleanor Chase Scholarship. Kingsley, a 2005 graduate of Central Valley High School, is the son of Laura and Mike Kingsley of Liberty Lake. He is majoring in music.
Justine Kondo was awarded a $1,100 Noah Showalter Scholarship. Kondo, a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is the daughter of Christy Kondo of Spokane.
Jessica Kynaston was awarded a $600 Tod Folsom/Burger King Scholarship, a $2,500 Itron Annual Merit Scholarship and a $1,150 Arnie Carlson Scholarship. Kynaston, a 2003 graduate of East Valley High School, is the daughter of Cathi Kynaston of Spokane. She is majoring in accounting.
Trang Le was awarded a $2,000 Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories Scholarship. Le, a 2002 graduate of Shadle Park High School, is the daughter of Dung Le Pham of Spokane and the late Nghiem Van Le. She is majoring in biology.
Christy Longhofer was awarded a $2,500 Scholastic Honors Scholarship. Longhofer, a 2005 graduate of West Valley High School, is the daughter of Kim and William Longhofer of Spokane.
Amy Lund was awarded a $2,500 Trustees Scholarship. Lund, a 2001 graduate of Mead High School, is the daughter of Carla and Scott Toliver of Spokane. She is majoring in dental hygiene.
Mark Lund was awarded a $900 Martin and Helen Terzieff Renewal Scholarship. Lund, a 2001 graduate of Mead High School, is majoring in computer science and secondary math education. He is the son of Marilyn and Lynn Lund of Spokane.
Pamela Malmoe of Spokane was awarded a $1,850 Howard and Lorene Franz Scholarship. Malmoe, who is majoring in education, is a 1979 graduate of Plymouth Salem High School in Plymouth, Mich.
Krista Morrow was awarded a $2,500 Transfer Academic Scholarship. Morrow, a 2003 graduate of Lakeside High School, is the daughter of Judy and Mark Morrow of Suncrest. She is majoring in pre-veterinary studies.
Daniel Mullen was awarded a $2,500 Transfer Academic Honors Scholarship. Mullen, the son of Julie Bibo and James Mullen, both of Spokane, is a 1997 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School. He is majoring in history.
Shane Simmons was awarded a $1,500 African American Education Program’s Multicultural Achievement Scholarship and a $500 Gale/Williams Scholarship. Simmons, a 2005 graduate of North Central High School, is majoring in athletic training. He is the son of Gary Simmons of Spokane and Chris Simmons.
Sondra Spevack was awarded a $2,500 Trustees Scholarship. Spevack, who is majoring in pre-medical biology, is the daughter of Darlene and David Dickman of Spokane. She is a 1981 graduate of West Albany High School.
Rebecca Sturm was awarded a $2,000 Student Affairs Undergraduate Scholarship. Sturm, the daughter of Mary and Carl Sturm of Spokane, is majoring in organizational communication studies. She is a 2002 graduate of Shadle Park High School.
Nicholas Sullivan was awarded a $1,450 H.D. Morris Memorial Scholarship and a $600 Martin and Helen Terzieff Scholarship. Sullivan, a 2000 graduate of Ferris High School, is majoring in pre-medical biology. He is the son of Venny and Michael Sullivan of Spokane.
Diane Thompson of Nine Mile Falls was awarded a $2,300 Avista Transfer Scholarship. Thompson, the daughter of William Mizell of Spokane and the late Carol Mizell, is majoring in psychology.
Truong-Son Tran was awarded a $750 Halstead Scholarship. Tran, who is majoring in dental studies, is a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School. He is the son of Ngoc-My Lam and Nghia Tran of Spokane.
Emily Tyner was awarded a $900 Helping Ourselves Means Education Program Scholarship. Tyner, the daughters of Linda and Robert Pollock of Chattaroy, is majoring in social work. She is a 2000 graduate of Mead High School.
Aaron Weidert was awarded a $450 Harold and Verna Kleiner Scholarship. Weidert, a 1996 graduate of North Central High School, is majoring in English-creative writing. He is the son of Donna and Daniel Weidert of Spokane.
Wetherholt was awarded a $3,000 Academic Honors Scholarship. Wetherholt, a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is the daughter of Cathy and Paul Wetherholt of Spokane. She is majoring in math education and special education.
Kira White was awarded a $3,000 Academic Honors Scholarship. White, a 2005 graduated of Shadle Park High School, is the daughter of Karla and Steve White of Spokane. She is majoring in forensic science.
