Writer Mary Farrell to lead spiritual workshop for families

Mary Cronk Farrell is presenting a workshop that will discuss spiritual fall family activities Tuesday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Auntie’s Bookstore, 402 W. Main Ave.

Farrell is the author of the book “Celebrating Faith: Year-Round Activities for Catholic Families” and will discuss activities for Halloween, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving.

Intelligent design speaker

Jay Richards, a scientist and theologian, will speak about intelligent design at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1508 W. Eighth Ave., Sunday during the 10 a.m. worship service.

Richards works at the Center for Science and Culture at the Discovery Institute in Seattle but will leave the institute to become the director of institutional relations and research at the Action Institute in Grand Rapids, Mich. He is also co-author of the book “The Privileged Planet: How Our Place in the Cosmos is Designed for Discovery.”

Faith and politics discussion

The Interfaith Council and Catholic Charities are presenting a series of ecumenical discussion groups regarding the general election.

The workshops will discuss many of the initiatives on the ballot in November and how to apply faith values in the voting booth. The sessions will be from 7 to 8 p.m. next Thursday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Ave., and Oct. 27 at Country Homes Christian Church, 8415 N. Wall St.

Enneagram workshop

Ancient Traditions Community Church, 1928 E. Rich Ave., is offering the class, Enneagram Personality Archetypes of the Soul from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24 and Nov. 7.

The class will discuss transforming your personality’s weaknesses into strengths and avoiding unnecessary conflict.

The cost is $20 for the three classes.

New pastors

Knox Presbyterian Church, 806 W. Knox Ave., has hired newly ordained pastor Paul Seebeck.

Seebeck was a local sportscaster for more than 20 years before graduating from Gonzaga University with a master’s degree in pastoral ministry. He also writes about religious issues for the Pacific Northwest Inlander and for the Web site www.thehighcalling.org.

“ The Rev. Jerry Cimijotti has been hired at Christ the King Anglican Church, 2715 S. Grand Blvd.

Cimijotti previously served parishes in South Dakota and Michigan, and was also a pastor at the Evangelical Free Church of America.
