YOUR BEAUTIFUL HOME
Lake Roosevelt, Wash.
Howard and Joann Walker wanted something a little different for their Lake Roosevelt home.
So they looked to the Southwest.
Using thrift store finds as well as authentic Western items and adding handmade touches, the couple created a warm Southwestern abode.
Cowboy boots, all hand-painted by Joann, line the stairs which were tiled by Howard.
The kitchen features a large island surrounded by red stools with seats upholstered in turquoise; large windows open to the view.
In a bedroom, designed for the couple’s granddaughters, bright yellow walls and a vintage Art Deco vanity combined with colorful fabrics and whimsical light fixtures – including one made from a vintage wire dress form wearing a red retro dress – to make a one-of-a-kind space.
“They chose the colors and I went from there,” Joann said. “It is much more feminine than the rest of the rooms in the house.”
