Rutgers 31, Syracuse 9: At Syracuse, N.Y., Corey Barnes returned a blocked punt and a fumble for touchdowns to lead the Scarlet Knights (4-2, 2-1 Big East) past the Orange (1-5, 0-3).

Navy 34, Kent State 31: At Annapolis, Md., Lamar Owens threw for 169 yards and rushed for another 110 and the Midshipmen (3-2) edged the Golden Flashes (1-5).

Pittsburgh 31, South Florida 17: At Pittsburgh, Tyler Palko threw for three TDs and ran for another to lead the Panthers (3-4, 2-1 Big East) past the Bulls (3-3, 1-1).

Bowling Green 27, Buffalo 7: At Amherst, N.Y., B.J. Lane ran for a career-high 141 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Falcons (4-2, 3-0 MAC) to a victory over the Bulls (0-6, 0-3).

Georgia Tech 35, Duke 10: At Durham, N.C., reserve running back Tashard Choice rushed for a career-high 107 yards and two touchdowns and the Yellow Jackets (4-2, 2-2 ACC) beat the Blue Devils (1-6, 0-3).

Middle Tennessee 35, Florida Atlantic 14: At Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Eugene Gross rushed for four TDs to lead the Blue Raiders (2-3, 1-1 Sun Belt) past the Owls (1-6, 1-2).

Marshall 20, UAB 19: At Huntington, W.Va., Ivan Clark blocked two punts that set up TDs and the Thundering Herd (3-3, 2-1 C-USA) beat the Blazers (3-3, 1-2).

Southern Mississippi 52, Central Florida 31: At Hattiesburg, Miss., Dustin Almond tied a school record with five touchdown passes to lead the Golden Eagles (3-2, 2-1 C-USA) to a win over the Golden Knights (3-3, 2-1).

North Texas 13, Florida International 10: At Miami, Daniel Meager found Johnny Quinn on a 7-yard scoring pass to give North Texas the lead and the Mean Green (2-3, 1-1 Sun Belt) beat the Golden Panthers (1-4, 0-2).

Louisiana-Monroe 27, Troy 3: At Monroe, La., Steven Jyles passed for 190 yards to lead the Indians (3-4, 3-0 Sun Belt) past the Trojans (2-4, 1-1).

Northwestern 34, Purdue 29: At West Lafayette, Ind., Tyrell Sutton scored from a yard out on fourth down with 1:50 left to lift the Wildcats (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) over the Boilermakers (2-4, 0-2).

Iowa 38, Indiana 21: At Iowa City, Iowa, Drew Tate threw two touchdown passes and Albert Young scored on a 26-yard run in the fourth quarter to help the Hawkeyes (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten) top the Hoosiers (4-2, 1-2).

Missouri 27, Iowa State 24 (OT): At Columbia, Mo., freshman quarterback Chase Daniel led Missouri to two fourth-quarter scores, and Adam Crossett’s 26-yard field goal in overtime gave the Tigers (4-2, 2-1 Big 12) a win over the Cyclones (3-3, 0-3).

Miami (Ohio) 51, Akron 23: At Oxford, Ohio, Josh Betts passed for three touchdowns and the RedHawks (3-3, 2-2 MAC) finished with 580 yards of offense in a victory over the Zips (3-3, 2-2).

Toledo 34, Ball State 14: At Muncie, Ind., Bruce Gradkowski threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns and the Rockets (4-1, 2-0 MAC) rolled over the Cardinals (1-4, 1-1).

Central Michigan 37, Ohio 10: At Mount Pleasant, Mich., Kent Smith threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score to lead the Chippewas (4-3, 3-1 MAC) over the Bobcats (2-4, 1-2).

Nebraska 23, Baylor 14: At Waco, Texas, Zac Taylor threw two touchdown passes and the Cornhuskers (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) scored on four of their first five drives en route to a win over the Bears (4-2, 1-2).

Oklahoma 19, Kansas 3: At Kansas City, Mo., Rhett Bomar’s fourth-quarter pass capped Oklahoma’s only touchdown drive and the Sooners (3-3, 2-1 Big 12) escaped with a win over the Jayhawks (3-3, 0-3).

Memphis 35, Houston 20: At Houston, DeAngelo Williams rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns, powering the Tigers (3-3, 2-2 C-USA) to a come-from-behind win over the Cougars (3-3, 2-2).

East Carolina 24, SMU 17: At Dallas, quarterback James Pinkney ran for three touchdowns to lead the Pirates (3-3, 2-1 C-USA) past the Mustangs (2-5, 1-3).

San Diego State 28, Utah 19: At Salt Lake City, Jeff Webb had nine catches for 142 yards and two TDs to lead the Aztecs (3-4, 2-2 MWC) over the Utes (3-4, 1-3).
