Timberlake routs Kellogg to clinch playoff berth; prepares for No. 1 Weiser

Timberlake clinched second place in the Intermountain League and the league’s final playoff berth with 56 first-half points on its way to a 76-42 victory over Kellogg at Spirit Lake.

Timberlake (4-5, 1-3) compiled 642 yards of total offense, led by Nick Puckett’s 169 yards and four touchdowns on 11 carries. Quarterback Levi Powers ran for 154 yards and two touchdowns on just three carries and added a pair of touchdown passes.

Cody Jones, who ran for 100 yards, returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and John Macklin added a punt return for a score to add to his 86 yards and one rushing touchdown on four carries.

The Tigers will travel to No. 1 Weiser (9-0) to open the State 3A playoffs next Saturday.

In the other IML game, Priest River (2-7, 1-3) defeated St. Maries (0-9, 0-4). No details or scoring were reported at press time.

“Moscow completed a 7-2 season with a 33-13 victory over Lakeland (2-7, 0-6) in Inland Empire League play at Rathdrum. The Bears, who finished with a 2-1 league record, will miss the playoffs after Sandpoint clinched the league’s only playoff spot Thursday night. No statistics were reported.

“Lewiston completed its season with a 32-22 home upset of Centennial (7-2) in a non-league matchup. The Bengals complete their season with a 5-4 record. No statistics were reported.
