Kettle Falls showed it’s ready to challenge Freeman for the league football title by dispatching Chewelah, expected to be one of the better teams in the 2A Great Northern League. The Bulldogs beat the Cougars 14-7 on the strength of running back Lucas Fox’s 151 yards on 25 carries. The rest of the league begins its non-league schedule Friday when Colfax visits 2A Riverside, Freeman hosts 2A Deer Park and Newport entertains Idaho’s Priest River.
