Sammy Lorentz’s nominating letter

The Spokesman-Review

Dear newspaper,

My name is Sammy Lorentz, and I’m a sixth-grader at Jefferson Elementary School. I would like to tell you about my neighbor Diane Keller. Diane is a very kind and joyful lady.

Diane has a lot of cancer. Last spring she told me that the doctor could not do anything more for her.

We live on 34th Avenue, and I told her there might be a miracle.

There are days she has to go to the doctors and get treatments. She is always tired but still happy. Even though she is so sick, she always cares about what is going on with my life. She is always asking how my games went and how I did.

She will feel really sick and she will still offer me a ride to school. I know she would take me anywhere if I needed a ride.

Diane always remembers my birthday and gets me a treat. We both love carrots, so she will get me a whole bag.

Even though Diane is very sick, she cares more about others then herself. She is the best neighbor to have.

We are praying that she gets better because I want her to keep on being my neighbor. Please consider giving her the best neighbor in the world award because she is the best.

Sincerely,

Sammy Lorentz
