Person who has influenced you the most: My father.

Favorite president (dead or alive): John F. Kennedy.

Job history: State lands unit forester in the Spokane area since 2000 for the Department of Natural Resources, where he has worked since 1991. Also worked as a ski instructor at Mount Spokane, resource aid for the Idaho Department of Lands and a forest firefighter for DNR starting in 1984. Supervisor on a 20-person fire crew in 1990.

Political Experience: None.

Top three issues in your platform: 1. Increase parent involvement in the schools, this includes in the classrooms as well as in how the school and the district function. Parents should be informed ahead of time of changes in how the school functions. 2. Fiscal responsibility: We need to maintain tight fiscal controls of our budget ensuring the taxpayers and the students are getting the most out of every dollar, and at the same time we need to ensure the teachers have the resources to best educate the students. 3. Ensuring all students can read at grade level, a priority needs to be maintained ensuring that our children can read effectively.

Why you are the best candidate for the position: I bring a fresh view of our school district, with three children in elementary school. This allows me to be at the grassroots level on hearing what parents and teachers have to suggest on how to improve our school district.

First priority if elected: To increase parent involvement, not only in the classroom but also in school-wide decisions such as class schedules and other issues. Involvement will also help parents better understand school issues when levies are proposed.

Todd Glore

Age: 33

Immediate family: Wife, Lisa, and children, Alyssa, 7, and Emma, 3.

Education: East Valley High School, 1990; Eastern Washington University, 1994.

Person who has influenced you the most: My parents.

Favorite president (dead or alive): Abraham Lincoln.

Job history: Service center general manager for Ferrellgas where he has worked for 14 years, including 10 in management. Oversees the operations of four Ferrellgas locations in the Inland Northwest.

Political Experience: None.

Top three issues in your platform: 1. Build stronger ties between the board, administration and teachers to successfully tackle the challenges that face the district. 2. We need to work aggressively and in cooperation with all in our district if we are going to meet the standards set forth by the Washington Assessment of Student Learning and the No Child Left Behind Act. 3. We need to address the issue of declining enrollment and find better ways to keep and retain our students and the personnel of the school district.

Why you are the best candidate for the position: By providing my leadership skills to help stop declining enrollment and finding ways to hire, keep and retain the best people in the district. Long-term stability will lead to long-term success by everyone in the East Valley School District.

First priority if elected: Find out the short-term needs of our parents, teachers, students and administrators in an effort to improve educational opportunities now and start thinking about the long-term goals of the district and to figure out how we are going to exceed those goals.

Education: Jefferson High School, Boulder, Mont., 1970.

Person who has influenced you the most: Aunt Helen.

Favorite president (dead or alive): John F. Kennedy.

Job history: Stay-at-home mom with experience as a clerk typist and substitute para-educator.

Political Experience: 31/2 terms on the school board and volunteer on various campaigns.

Top three issues in your platform: 1. Begin the search for a superintendent. 2. Assist with a successful levy campaign. 3. Support methods for increased student learning.

Why you are the best candidate for the position: I have the experience and the time to continue serving the students and patrons of East Valley. The district needs stability in the board as we address a number of issues this school year. I’m a strong advocate for public education.
