Huskies don’t need to be kicked

The Spokesman-Review

I was walking in Seattle and saw a man who had fallen. I asked how he fell and he replied, “I am a new athlete at the UW and I fell in some residue left by some questionable former Huskies and Husky leaders.”

He mentioned it was his goal to rise and clean up the residue and put UW athletics on par with the outstanding reputation it had as a top institution of learning.

I was sad to see a good man down and was about to help him up when along came John Blanchette and asked what I was about to do. I said there was a good man down and I was going to help him up. “No!” said the sportswriter. “Kick him while he is down.”
