Blue Jays 7, Yankees 4: At New York, Toronto ended New York’s five-game winning streak with a victory over the Yankees.

Athletics 7, Rangers 6: At Oakland, Calif., Jason Kendall hit a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning, and the Athletics rallied from a three-run deficit for a victory over Texas.

Red Sox 4, Orioles 3: At Baltimore, Edgar Renteria drove in two runs with a broken-bat single in the ninth, and Boston regained a share of first place in the East by defeating the Orioles.

White Sox 8, Twins 1: At Chicago, Freddy Garcia allowed four hits in eight innings, and Jermaine Dye hit a three-run homer for the second straight night to lead the White Sox over Minnesota.

Indians 11, Royals 4: At Kansas City, Mo., Jhonny Peralta, Ronnie Belliard, Grady Sizemore and Coco Crisp homered to lead Cleveland over the Royals, the Indians’ 17th win in 19 games.

Angels 7, Devil Rays 3: At Anaheim, Calif., Steve Finley hit a three-run homer, Jarrod Washburn won for the first time in a month, and Los Angeles stretched its winning streak to eight with a victory over Tampa Bay.

National League

Astros 8, Cubs 3: At Chicago, Ezequiel Astacio, starting in place of injured ace Roger Clemens, allowed four hits in six innings, and Houston preserved its lead in the wild-card race with a victory over the Cubs.

Braves 6, Marlins 1: At Atlanta, Andruw Jones hit his major league-leading 51st home run as the Braves beat Florida.

Mets 5, Nationals 2: At Washington, Tom Glavine carried a shutout into the sixth for his 274th career win, David Wright’s grand slam capped a five-run first off Livan Hernandez, and New York beat the Nationals.

Reds 3, Phillies 2: At Cincinnati, Philadelphia was unable to overcome a three-run deficit and lost to the Reds, falling two games behind Houston in the wild-card race.

Rockies 6, Giants 0: At Denver, Sunny Kim shut down Barry Bonds and the rest of the San Francisco lineup, throwing a three-hitter for his first career shutout in Colorado’s win over the Giants.

Brewers 8, Cardinals 7: At Milwaukee, Chad Moeller hit a three-run homer and Brady Clark added a two-run drive in a seven-run second off Mark Mulder that led the Brewers over St. Louis.

Diamondbacks 8, Padres 5: At Phoenix, Chad Tracy doubled in three runs in Arizona’s five-run eighth inning, and the Diamondbacks rallied to beat San Diego.

Pirates 8, Dodgers 3: At Los Angeles, Oliver Perez pitched six strong innings to earn his first victory in more than three months and Pittsburgh beat the Dodgers.
