Valley Y festival Saturday to promote kids’ health

The Spokane Valley YMCA will host a health-focused festival on Saturday as part of the nonprofit’s annual Healthy Kids Day.

The events start with a family fun run and walk at 9 a.m. The festival also will feature a family orienteering course, climbing wall activities, a jumping castle, health screenings and workshops on healthy cooking.

The free event is part of a nationwide effort to encourage children to be more physically active and fight childhood obesity.
