Police looking for burglarized home

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley Police aren’t looking for a burglar this time – they’re looking for a victim.

Susan M. Czapiewski, 44, was arrested near Helena, and police there discovered several stolen items, said Sgt. Dave Reagan, spokesman for the Spokane Valley Police.

Czapiewski told police she had been traveling from Auburn, Wash., to Montana, stealing things along the way, Reagan said.

Officers in Spokane Valley tied Czapiewski to at least three burglaries in the area, but the woman said she was responsible for one more theft at a “small city setting east of Spokane Valley,” Reagan said.

Czapiewski told officers she had exited the freeway east of Spokane Valley and drove by an old military barracks or apartment complex. She then turned left and broke into the first home on her right, Reagan said.

The woman said the home was newer and on a corner lot, and there was a large boat parked in front, Reagan said.

No burglary reports have been filed that would match the stolen items, which include a portable DVD player, camcorder and television Internet-access controller.

Anyone who thinks their home was broken into or who might own the items may call Detective Kirk Keyser at 477-3325.
