Sometimes being perfect once just isn’t good enough.

That was the case for Shadle Park sophomore Sam Skillingstad, as she threw her second perfect game this week and improved to 11-0 on the season in the Highlanders’ 10-0 win over West Valley in a Greater Spokane League softball game Friday.

Skillingstad, who struck out all 15 batters she faced in a 17-0 victory over Gonzaga Prep on Tuesday, struck out 17 of West Valley’s 18 batters to cap the week.

She also threw a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts in Thursday’s 10-1 win over Central Valley, giving her 46 strikeouts in 18 innings for the week.

Skillingstad shared time in the circle with then-senior Stephanie Trudeau last season, but she still earned GSL co-MVP honors as the Highlanders finished fourth in the 2005 State 4A tournament.

She is 25-2 in her high school career, having thrown five perfect games and two other no-hitters.
