Yankees 3, Blue Jays 1: At Toronto, Alex Rodriguez homered in his third straight game and Mike Mussina made another sharp start, leading New York over the Blue Jays. Mussina struck out a season-high seven in 7 1/3 innings, allowing one run and seven hits. He lowered his ERA to 2.67.

White Sox 4, Royals 0: At Chicago, Javier Vazquez sent Kansas City to its 10th straight loss, pitching into the ninth inning of a victory by the White Sox. Bobby Jenks, formerly of Spirit Lake, Idaho, got the final two outs for his sixth save.

Red Sox 9, Devil Rays 1: At Boston, Curt Schilling breezed through six innings, striking out seven to lead the Red Sox over Tampa Bay.

Orioles 18, Indians 9: At Baltimore, Kevin Millar hit a go-ahead, two-run double in a seven-run fifth inning capped by Corey Patterson’s two-run homer, and the Orioles overcame a four-run deficit to beat Cleveland.

Twins 12, Angels 10 (10): At Minneapolis, pinch-hitter Michael Cuddyer hit a two-run homer against former teammate J.C. Romero in the 10th inning, lifting Minnesota to a victory over Los Angeles.

Tigers 11, Athletics 4: At Oakland, Calif., Kenny Rogers won at the Coliseum, where his record is 24-4, and Placido Polanco got his 1,000th career hit and drove in three runs to lead Detroit past Oakland.
