Volcanoes keep Indians reeling

KEIZER, Ore. – John Odom allowed just four hits in six shutout innings and the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes rolled to an 8-0 victory over the Spokane Indians in Northwest League baseball action Saturday night.

The Volcanoes (36-17) handed the Indians (19-34) their fifth straight defeat and improved to 7-0 against Spokane this season.

The Indians fell 11 games behind first-place Boise (30-23) in the East Division.

Salem-Keizer jumped on Spokane starter Kyle Rogers (1-1) for three first-inning runs. Rogers allowed four earned runs in 3 1/3 innings.

Austin Weilip replaced Rogers with one out in the fourth and surrendered three runs to push the Volcanoes’ lead to 7-0.

Spokane managed just five hits against Odom and relievers Adam Paul and Paul Oseguera.
