Faux brick path adds interest to entry YOUR BEAUTIFUL HOME

To get to the heart of Donna Maki’s house, built in the 1930s, you just have to follow the red-brick path.

The bricks aren’t actually brick at all. Maki, looking for a way to add interest to her entryway, used a sponge to paint a pathway of faux bricks.

Maki tried to paint stones on the wall, but wasn’t happy with the effect. Her husband suggested she try brick.

With her sister’s help, Maki painted a mural on the wall of the entry and carried the garden mural and trompe l’oeil brick up the stairs.

“When the summer came I carried this look out onto our plain front porch,” Maki wrote. “Like any garden, this one continues to grow,”
