“Army Master Sgt. Troy Bourgeau recently graduated from the Army Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. Bourgeau, a health-care specialist, has served in the military for 18 years. He is a 1987 graduate of Colville High School and the son of Terry Gordon of Colville.

“Two area residents recently graduated from basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. Army Pvt. Walter Bluhm, the son of Walter Bluhm of Ephrata, Wash., is a 2005 graduate of Ephrata High School. Army National Guard Pvt. Justin Rose, a 2002 graduate of University High School, is the son of Bill and Suzette Rose of Spokane Valley.

“Army Pvt. Westin Floeter recently graduated from basic training at Fort Benning, Ga. Floeter, the son of Ned Floeter of Ritzville, Wash., is a 2004 graduate of Ritzville High School.

“Two area residents recently graduated from the power-generation equipment repairer advanced individual training course at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. Army Pvt. James Tenaglia is the son of Thomas Tenaglia of Moses Lake and Kathy Griffin of Bonney Lake, Wash. He is a 1996 graduate of Sumner High School.

Army National Guard Pvt. Bradley Harper, a 2005 graduate of Deer Park High School, is the son of Grey and Kayanne Harper of Deer Park.

“Army Pvt. Curtis Smedley recently graduated from the light-wheeled vehicle mechanic advanced individual training course at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. Smedley is the son of Clint and Flora Smedley of Quincy, Wash.

“Two area residents recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Air Force Airman Danny Mingura, a 2005 graduate of University High School, is the son of Danny and Deborah Mingura of Spokane.

Air Force Airman Gregory Adams-Tomlin, the son of Patty Adams of Cheney, is a 2005 graduate of Heritage High School in Vancouver, Wash.

“Army Col. Paul Wood recently graduated from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pa. Wood will be assigned to the I Corps operations staff at Fort Lewis, Tacoma. Wood, a 1978 graduate of Moses Lake High School, received a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Military Academy and a master’s degree from the University of Southern California. He is the son of Orval and Marion Wood of Spokane.

“John Zver was recently commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army after completing the ROTC program at the University of Washington and graduating with a bachelor’s degree. He was an honor graduate. Zver, a 2002 graduate of St. Michael’s Academy, is the son of John and Doreen Zver of Spokane.

“Mark Burgard recently received the Eagle Scout award, the highest given in the Boy Scouts. Burgard, a member of Troop 420, is a 2006 graduate of University High School and Spokane Falls Community College Running Start. For his project he landscaped and added lighting to the entryway of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. Burgard is the son of Dan and Karen Burgard of Spokane Valley.

“Kelsey Shatto recently was awarded a Silver Award, the second highest given in the Girl Scouts. Shatto, who attends Central Valley High School, is the daughter of Terry and Nancy Shatto of Spokane Valley. For her project she designed and taught a scrapbooking project to other Girl Scouts at a recent day camp.

“Two area residents recently graduated from Dartmouth College.

Zachary Pierce of Colbert graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in engineering sciences. He is the son of Michael and Mary Pierce.

Brooks Goff of Sandpoint graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He is the son of Delwyn and Mary Goff.

“Two area residents were recently awarded scholarships for the 2006-07 academic year at Washington State University. Jake Adkins was awarded a $1,000 Charles W. Harrison Engineering Scholarship. Adkins, the son of Lori and John Adkins of Coulee Dam, Wash., is a 2006 graduate of Lake Roosevelt High School.

James Clark II was awarded a $2,000 Charles W. Harrison Engineering Scholarship. Clark, a 2006 graduate of North Central High School, is the son of Deborah and James Clark of Spokane.

“Ellen Adams of Spokane was recently awarded a $1,500 scholarship by the League Foundation. It was one of seven scholarships awarded. Adams is attending Princeton University.

“Bergan Anderson was named to the spring dean’s list at the University of Washington.

“Daniel Ready was recently awarded an Ann Neupauer Scholarship at the Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. The scholarship covers full tuition for four years. He also was awarded a $2,000 DeBaun Performing Arts Scholarship. He is a 2006 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.

“Mikayla Fullmer recently graduated from the Music Conservatory at Wheaton College in Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in music. Fullmer, who is a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is the daughter of Kurt and Sally Fullmer of Spokane.

“Dan Fullmer recently was awarded a national Air Force ROTC Scholarship, ROTC Academic Achievement Award and a Dean’s Scholarship from Seattle Pacific University. Fullmer, a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is the son of Kurt and Sally Fullmer of Spokane.

■Four area high school students recently were awarded $1,000 scholarships by the Spokane Valley Rotary. The recipients are: Cameron Blackburn, Central Valley; Zachary Slovarp, West Valley; Megan Vickery, East Valley; and Robert Weedman, University.

“The following area students recently were awarded scholarships for the 2006-07 academic year at Washington State University.

Nicodemus Hallin was awarded a $1,000 Harold P. Curtis Scholarship. Hallin, a 2005 home-school graduate, is the son of Brenda and Rusty Hallin of Spokane. He holds an associate’s degree in pre-engineering from Spokane Falls Community College.

Michael Johnson was awarded a $4,000 Silver Regents Scholar Award renewable for a second year. Johnson, the son of Cathy and Tom Johnson of Wilbur, Wash., is a 2006 graduate of Wilbur High School.

Eric Smith was awarded a $2,000 Charles W. Harrison Engineering Scholarship. Smith, a 2006 graduate of Central Valley High School, is the son of Debra and Raymond Smith of Spokane Valley.

Jordan Storhaug was awarded a $4,000 Herbert L. Eastlick Scholarship in pre-medicine. Storhaug, the son of Yvonne and Jerry Storhaug of Spokane, is a 2004 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

“Madison Childs of Loon Lake, Wash., recently was awarded a Theatre Scholarship for the 2006-07 academic year at Belhaven College, Miss.

“Lesley Moerschel recently earned a master’s degree in history from Washington State University. She is the daughter of Janice and Thomas Moerschel of Spokane.

“Three Spokane students were named to the spring dean’s list at Regis University. Students must hold a grade-point average of 3.7 or above to be named to the list. The students are Timothy Feulner, Rebecca House and Kathleen Korsmo.

“Three area residents recently graduated from Pacific Lutheran University.

Lacey Aubrey earned bachelor’s degrees in secondary education and Spanish. The daughter of Cliff and Kim Aubrey of Newport, Wash., she is a graduate of Newport High School.

Laura Benage earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. She is a Gonzaga Prep graduate.

Rebecca Gant earned bachelor’s degrees in nursing and ROTC military science. Gant, a graduate of Central Valley High School, is the daughter of Donald and Carolyn Gant of Spokane Valley.

Idaho

“Kathryn Dean of Coeur d’Alene was recently selected for a research assistant position funded by the Reid and Polly Anderson Scholarship Endowment. Dean, a biology major at Denison University in Ohio, is one of 36 Denison science students awarded a position. She is a 2003 graduate of Gonzaga Prep and is the daughter of Charles and Jeanne Dean of Coeur d’Alene. She will be working on a project titled “Exploring the Extracellular Domain of Drosphilia Neuratactin.”

“Daniel Cooper of Coeur d’Alene was recently awarded a $500 Steve Omi Memorial Scholarship. Cooper, a 2006 graduate of Lake City High School, plans to attend the University of Notre Dame.
