Achievements: EWU announces scholarship winners

Several area students were recently awarded scholarships for the 2006-2007 academic year at Eastern Washington University.

Samantha Bowen was awarded a $2,500 Kurt and Gayle Orton Dental Hygiene Scholarship. The award is given to dental hygiene majors with a grade-point average of 3.0 or above. Bowen, a 2003 graduate of Riverside High School, is the daughter of Abraham and Marlene Bowen of Chattaroy.

Lindsay Clairmont was awarded a $2,500 R.G. Andres Scholarship. The award is given to juniors and seniors majoring in education who graduated from a high school in the Pacific Northwest. Clairmont, a 2003 graduate of Gonzaga Prep, is the daughter of Wayne and Teresa Clairmont of Spokane.

Michael Dixon received a $2,000 Presidential Scholarship. The award is given to students with a g.p.a. of 3.8 or higher. Dixon, the son of Mike and Melissa Dixon of Greenacres, is a 2006 graduate of Valley Christian High School.

Ross Lanes received a $1,000 Alumni Scholarship. The award is given to children and grandchildren of EWU alumni who have a g.p.a. of 3.5 or higher. Lanes, a 2004 graduate of University High School, is the son of Carolyn Lanes of Spokane.

Rebecca Long received a $1,050 Martin and Helen Terzieff Scholarship and a $2,500 Itron Annual Merit Scholarship. Long, the daughter of Larry and Mary Long of Greenacres, is a 2006 home school graduate.

Kristen Longmate of Spokane was awarded a $1,050 Martin and Helen Terzieff Scholarship. The award is given to junior and senior communications majors.

Jonathan Mancheni was awarded a $500 Charles P. Lund Scholarship. The award is given to music majors. Mancheni, a 2006 graduate of Mead High School, is the son of Jeff and Pam Mancheni of Spokane.

Henry McNulty of Spokane received a $500 Charles P. Lund Scholarship. The award is given to music majors. McNulty is the son of Norman and Deborah McNulty.

Karmen Morlock received a $1,000 Marvin Mutchnik Scholarship. The award is given to music majors. Morlock, the daughter of Chris and Carol Morlock of Spokane Valley, is a 2004 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Holly Myers received a $3,000 Academic Honors Scholarship. The award is given to incoming freshmen with a g.p.a. of 3.7 or higher. Myers, a 2006 graduate of University High School, is the daughter of Devin and Carol Myers of Spokane.

Timothy Riggs received a $2,000 Presidential Scholarship. The award is given to student with a g.p.a. of 3.8 or higher. Riggs, the son of Robert and Danielle Riggs of Spokane, is a 2006 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.

Patrick Rooks also received a $3,000 Academic Honors Scholarship. Rooks, the son of Todd and Noreen Rooks of Spokane, is a 2006 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Kathleen Sullivan received a $1,000 Nate Narrance Economics Scholarship. Sullivan, a 2003 graduate of Shadle Park High School, is the daughter of Mollie Sullivan of Spokane.

Bobbi Woodward was awarded a $750 Eagle Award Scholarship. Woodward, the daughter of Ross Woodward and Carolyn Allen of Spokane, is a 2001 graduate of West Valley High School.
