Truck crashes through gas station window

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

For once, workers at a Chevron station in Coeur d’Alene are glad they didn’t have many customers.

A slow-moving pickup crashed through the window of the station Christmas Day, running over two tables and four chairs and coming to rest against store shelves. Only a handful of people were inside at the time, and no one was sitting at the tables by the window, said clerk Tammy Christofson. There were no injuries.

Police estimate the truck was going about 5 mph when it jumped a curb and crashed into the store. Police said the driver, 20-year-old Nathaniel Ruth, told them he pushed the truck’s brake all the way to the floor, but it wouldn’t stop. He has not been cited.
