Few’s Zags have class

The Spokesman-Review

This is in regards to the two negative letters to the editor (December 24) about Gonzaga University men’s basketball.

With today being Christmas Eve, I should be downstairs with my family, however I find myself in my office compelled to write this letter.

My wife (Donna) and I just returned with another couple from a fabulous trip to New York City to take in the city in all its holiday brilliance and, of course, to watch the Zags play Duke and also to support Adam Morrison of the Charlotte Bobcats, who played against the Knicks the night before.

Our first night strolling through Times Square we ran into the Zags and Morrison in front of a movie theater they were about to enter.

As we were preparing to say “hi” and wish them luck, Jeremy Pargo came upand shook our hands and said thanks for coming to support them. David Pendergraft followed, as did a chorus of thanks from the rest of the team. Let’s remember, these are kids playing a game. They were far from home and most didn’t have family there. We wanted to let them know we appreciate them and their efforts. They are one class act!

These negative writers I have referred to seem to infer the actions of the team reflect their coach. Darned right they do! We are lucky to have coach Mark Few as long as we can keep him. Wins and losses will come and go, but class will be remembered forever.
