Some new toons for Madonna

The Spokesman-Review

The Grammy Awards will open with a meeting of the Material Girl and the virtual world.

Madonna and Gorillaz will perform together at the 48th annual awards ceremony Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Gorillaz – nominated for four Grammys, including record of the year – is a melding of rock and hip-hop that represents band members as cartoon alter-egos. They will appear Wednesday in 3-D animated color.

Also, Paul McCartney will make his first Grammy musical appearance, joining a list of performers that includes Mariah Carey, John Legend, Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen, U2 with Mary J. Blige, Coldplay, Faith Hill with Keith Urban, Sugarland and Jamie Foxx.

Back in Vogue

Controversial supermodel Kate Moss will appear on the March cover of British Vogue.

It’s the 21st time that Moss has graced Vogue’s cover, and the first since allegations of cocaine use in September.

Moss lost contracts with H&M, Burberry and Chanel after the Daily Mirror tabloid published pictures of her allegedly using cocaine. She met with detectives in London on Tuesday to discuss the situation.

It’s just patter

Television evangelist Pat Robertson acknowledged Thursday that sometimes his “passion runs ahead of me.”

On ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Robertson was asked about statements suggesting that the United States assassinate Venezeula President Hugo Chavez, and that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon‘s stroke was God’s punishment for giving up the Gaza strip.

Robertson said that the “context of what I say isn’t quite as strong as it sounds, but I am passionate about things, and it is not politically correct.”

‘Lost’ lamb

“Lost” star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, a devout Buddhist, quietly delivered the traditional daily prayer before Hawaii’s state Senate on Wednesday.

In the series filmed in Hawaii, Akinnuoye-Agbaje plays the character of Mr. Eko, a former African drug lord who had taken on the identity of a Roman Catholic priest.

On Wednesday he read the 23rd Psalm, which is also the title of the “Lost” episode during which Eko’s violent past and struggle for redemption were revealed.
