CYT plans reading

The Christian Youth Theater will present a reading of its upcoming play, “A Year with Frog and Toad,” today at 11 a.m. at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, 15310 E. Indiana Ave., and at 2 p.m. at Auntie’s Bookstore, 402 E. Main Ave.

Cast members will preview a scene from the musical and read from the “Frog and Toad” series of children’s books.

Christian CD sale

True Light Ministries is selling Christian CDs to raise funds to remodel and expand homes and ministry areas for Pastor Oscar and Pastor Rodrigo.

Thousands of CDs will be available for $5 each today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Prairie Avenue Christian Center, 3639 W. Prairie, Hayden Lake, Idaho.

Sacrament speaker

The John Paul II Fellowship is presenting Father Santan Pinto on Monday at 7 p.m. at Gonzaga University in O’Malley Hall below St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 330 E. Boone Ave.

Pinto’s talk, “Why Roman Catholic? The Need for the Sacraments in our Lives,” will cover the mystery and significance of the sacraments, how they nourish a faith-filled life and how sacramental living is a vehicle to holiness.

The event is geared toward teenagers and young adults, but all ages are welcome.

Christian artists group

Judy Mandeville, an adjunct professor at Whitworth College, is assembling a group of Christian writers, actors, chefs, musicians and other artists to form Artesian, a multiethnic guild of Spokane-area Christian artists.

The goal of the group is to help raise awareness of such issues as domestic violence, addiction, discrimination, poverty and mental illness.

An informational meeting will be today from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2 W. Third Ave.

Church tour

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., is offering a tour of its Byzantine-style church building Tuesday at 7 p.m.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions and learn about the history, architecture and faith of early Christianity.

Study groups and classes

The Institute on the Constitution is offering an eight-week study group to discuss Christianity and the law of the land Mondays at 6:45 p.m. at the Shilo Inn, 923 E. Third Ave.

The first class met on Jan. 30, but new students are welcome at every class.

The group will discuss such topics as,”A Biblical View of History,” “Law and Government” and “The Religious Beliefs of the Founding Fathers.”

The course is free but will offer a manual for $25 (one per household; not required).

Ancient Traditions Community Church, 1928 E. Rich Ave., is offering classes in Breathing Chakra Guided Meditation on the first Monday of each month.

The donation of $5 will be accepted.

The church is also offering a class on “Befriending Oneself” on Tuesdays through Feb. 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The class will be in the Buddhist tradition and includes meditation. The cost is a $5 suggested donation.

Mothers of Preschoolers

Colbert Presbyterian Church, 4211 E. Colbert Road, has chartered a Mothers of Preschoolers group that meets the first Friday of every month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The next meeting will be March 3.

The program is for mothers, and there is also a program for the children.

Singles groups

Spokane Christian Singles offers a speed-dating session for singles in their 20s, 30s and 40s today at 5 p.m. at Aracelia’s Mexican Food Restaurant, 7905 E. Trent Ave.

Singles older than 45 can speed-date Friday at 7 p.m. at Colbert Presbyterian Church, 4211 E. Colbert Road.

The cost is $10 for the first visit and $7 for every visit after that.
