FRESNO, Calif. – The skid has reached five games for the Idaho women’s basketball team.

Fresno State (16-5, 8-1) hung a 68-44 defeat on the Vandals (7-13, 3-6) in Western Athletic Conference action Monday night to move into a tie for first place.

The Vandals trailed by six points at halftime and cut the deficit to five in the first minute after intermission, but Fresno went on a 15-2 run to put the game out of reach.

“Fresno State is a very good basketball team that just keeps coming at you in waves,” Idaho coach Mike Divilbiss said. “Some of it was we ran out of gas and some of it was they are very talented, but we played them a lot better tonight than we did at our place. We are growing and getting better and I am pleased with the way we competed tonight.”

Leilani Mitchell led UI with 15 points. Jessica Summers had 14 and a team-high seven rebounds. Foul-plagued Emily Faurholt had a career-low seven points
