UI faculty recital Sunday at NIC

The North Idaho College Music Department is sponsoring a University of Idaho faculty recital featuring violinist Ferenc Cseszko and pianist Catherine Allen.

The recital begins at 2 p.m. Sunday in Boswell Hall’s Schuler Auditorium.

Cseszko, a native of Yugoslavia, joined the UI music faculty in the fall of 2003 as an assistant professor of violin/viola, director of the orchestra program and violinist with the Kennard Piano Trio. As a soloist or chamber musician, Cseszko has performed recitals in Austria, Croatia, German, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, Switzerland, the United States, Mexico and Colombia.

Allen, a native of Walla Walla, joined the UI Music Department in 1997. She is the coordinator of class piano and also teaches studio piano and accompanying. She is a founding member of the Palouse Opera Project and has participated in recitals across the region as a vocalist and pianist.

Highlights will be performances of Beethoven’s “Spring Sonata,” a sonata for violin and piano in F major, as well as Antonio Vivaldi’s “Winter,” a concerto for violin and orchestra.

The recital is free and open to the public.
