Paris top spot to spend New Year’s Eve

Thousands of holiday revelers will spend New Year’s Eve in a distant locale. So where will they be celebrating?

Paris is the top spot worldwide for ringing in the new year, according to an analysis by Expedia.

But the 20 most popular New Year’s Eve travel destinations also boast a dozen U.S. cities, including five renowned for year-round partying and fun: Las Vegas (2), New York (3), Orlando (4), Miami (9) and Los Angeles (19).

Eight of the top 20 are in warm-weather zones, such as Phoenix (7), Maui (11), Honolulu (17) and Los Cabos, Mexico (18).

Families who want to see a fabulous fireworks display are opting for London (5), Brussels (6) and Amsterdam (8).

Then there are those who find the Spanish custom of eating a dozen grapes before the New Year’s bells finish chiming 12 times a compelling reason to visit Barcelona (13) and Madrid (15).
