Shock on road to tackle tough Twisters team

The Spokesman-Review

Controlling the determined pass rush of the Arkansas Twisters will be paramount for the Spokane Shock in today’s arenafootball2 matchup at ALLTEL Arena in Little Rock, Ark.

The fourth-ranked Shock (9-2) are coming off a come-from-behind 49-46 win over the Albany (N.Y.) Conquest at the Spokane Arena last Saturday. The Twisters (8-4) are ranked fifth in the latest coaches’ poll and are coming off a 50-32 win over Bakersfield last Saturday. Bakersfield handed Spokane one of its two losses, a 50-22 thrashing on May 6 at the Arena.

The Twisters are tied for second in the National Midwest.

Today’s game will be the Shock starting debut for quarterback Kyle Rowley, who spearheaded the second-half rally last week against Albany, completing 19 of 25 passes for 193 yards and four touchdowns.

Returning to the Shock lineup will be standout wide receiver/defensive back Charles Frederick, who missed last week’s game for family reasons. Frederick has scored 19 touchdowns in the last five games he has played.
