Achievements: Trio win Young Entrepreneur honors

“ Three area students were recently given $1,000 Young Entrepreneur Awards from the National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation. The national scholarship program awarded more than 400 scholarships this year based on academics and two essays.

The recipients are Stephen Hardy of Davenport, Wash., Pamela Passmore of Endicott, Wash., and Lisa Stoll of West Valley High School.

“ Chandra Hein of Spokane Valley was recently inducted into the Samford University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi. Membership is open to the top 10 percent of the senior class at a school.

“ Hillary Squires of Spokane was recently named to the spring 2006 dean’s list at Idaho State University. Students must hold a grade-point average of 3.66 or higher to be named to the list.

Idaho

“ Stephanie Rasmussen of Coeur d’Alene was recently named to the president’s list at Williston State College, N.D. Students on the list hold a 4.0 grade-point average.

“ Julia Esser of Moscow recently received a $1,000 Richard B. Taylor II Family Scholarship from the Hogan Entrepreneurial Leadership program at Gonzaga University. She is a business major at Gonzaga.

“ Heather Vann of Cocolalla, Idaho, was recently named a Distinguished Finalist in the 2006 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Program. The program honors outstanding youth volunteers.

Vann created a pen-pal program between Honor Society high school students and fifth-graders who needed help on their writing skills. Vann is a 2006 graduate of Sandpoint High School.

“ Sarah Booker of Ponderay was recently awarded a scholarship from the Sandpoint Lambda chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa.

“ Kelsey Bonds of Post Falls was recently awarded a $500 scholarship from the Tomorrow’s Business Professional Scholarship Program. She is a graduate of St. Maries High School.

“ Morgan Pruvis of Rathdrum was recently awarded a $500 Sherrell Wheeler Scholarship. She is a graduate of St. Maries High School.

“ Todd Underhill, a 2006 graduate of Lakeland High School, was recently awarded a $1,500 scholarship from Community United Methodist Church in Coeur d’Alene. Underhill is the son of Rod and Marianne Underhill.

“ The following Idaho residents were recently named to the spring 2006 honor roll at Washington State University. Students must hold a grade-point average of 3.75 or above. Students are listed by their hometown.
