Ask the Editors: More proofreaders, please

The Spokesman-Review

Question: I don’t know where the Accuracy Watch e-mail address is. Please tell me where to send mistakes, if you are interested in getting them. I also send praise when it’s warranted.

In general, I think the paper is balanced and thorough, and there are several columnists I enjoy. But you need to hire more proofreaders, in my humble opinion. – Dianne Cook, Spokane

Answer: We welcome input from readers who think they’ve found a mistake in the newspaper and would like to bring it to our attention. If you prefer to communicate with us by e-mail, please send your comments to editorforum@spokesman.com. The other option is to call us at (509) 459-5430. – Gary Graham, managing editor

Where was the Spokane snapshot?

Question: I did not see a city snapshot on Spokane as you published on the cities of the other police chief candidates. I would like to see one for our city. Did I miss it or why didn’t you publish a snapshot of Spokane? How can I get one? – Gretchen McDevitt, Spokane

Answer: We did compile a demographic snapshot for the city of Spokane, but for space and various production issues, it didn’t make it into the paper with the profile of the internal candidate for police chief.

We will look for another opportunity to include that information in our ongoing coverage of the police chief search. – Carla Savalli, senior editor for local news
