“Five area residents were recently awarded President’s Scholarships from Western Washington University. The scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement to the top 10 percent of incoming freshman and transfer students:

Bryan Ager received a $2,000 scholarship. Ager, a graduate of Ferris High School, is the son of Jeff and Leanne Ager of Spokane.

Amanda Bader, received a two-year $1,500 scholarship. Bader, daughter of Craig Bader and Diane Norell of Spokane, is a graduate of Ferris High School.

Jennifer Novotney received a two-year $2,000 scholarship. Novotney, a graduate of Mead High School, is the daughter of Thomas and Lynn Novotney of Spokane.

Danielle Slaughter received a $1,500 scholarship. Slaughter, the daughter of Dan and Carla Slaughter of Spokane, is a graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Brian Tofte-Schumacher received a $500 scholarship. Tofte-Schumacher, a graduate of Rogers High School, is the son of Raymond and Tammy Schumacher of Spokane.

In addition, Ann Mayhew received a $1,000 Multicultural Achievement Program Scholarship. Mayhew, the daughter of Doug and Yasuko Mayhew of Spokane, is a graduate of Ferris High School.

“ The Public School Employees of Washington recently announced the recipients of two scholarships. The organization awarded scholarships to Public Schools Employees of Washington members and their dependents.

Annie Caldwell received a $1,000 scholarship. Caldwell, a 2006 graduate of Medical Lake High School, is the daughter of Steven and Denise Caldwell of Medical Lake.

Kathy Loucks received a $500 scholarship. Loucks is a paraeducator/Braillist for the Mead School District.
