Mets 1, Cubs 0 (10): At New York, Jose Valentin hit an RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning, and the Mets edged Chicago.

Pirates 8, Brewers 4: At Milwaukee, Jason Bay homered to spark a three-run, fifth-inning rally as Pittsburgh beat the Brewers.

Cardinals 6, Rockies 1: At Denver, Jeff Suppan went six innings and gave up just five hits as St. Louis beat Colorado.

Padres 10, Dodgers 3: At Los Angeles, Jake Peavy homered, doubled and drove in four runs while winning his first game in almost two months, leading San Diego past the Dodgers. Los Angeles has lost eight straight games.

Phillies 6, Diamondbacks 4: At Philadelphia, Chase Utley hit a three-run homer to extend his hitting streak to 26 games to help the Phillies beat Arizona.

Nationals 4, Giants 3: At Washington, Austin Kearns’ sacrifice fly with the bases loaded off San Francisco closer Armando Benitez gave the Nationals the win.

Braves 6, Marlins 5: At Atlanta, Andruw Jones led off the eighth inning with a tying homer and Adam LaRoche followed with a two-out shot to lift the Braves over Florida.

Astros 8, Reds 5: At Houston, Lance Berkman homered twice and Craig Biggio added a solo shot as the Astros rallied to beat Cincinnati.
