CdA Charter Academy’s vice principal steps up

The Spokesman-Review

The vice principal of the Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy will take over as principal next month.

Dan Nicklay beat out Jim Gray, vice principal of Coeur d’Alene High School, and Bruce Bradberry, superintendent of the Challis School District, for the charter school’s top position.

Nicklay will be the school’s fourth principal since it opened in 1999.

The school’s board of directors approved his hiring at a special meeting Thursday evening.

Nicklay has been with the school since 2000. He began as a seventh- and eighth-grade English teacher, and served as both a teacher and dean of students in 2001 before he was appointed vice principal in 2002.

Nicklay replaces Nels Pitotti, who left last month.
