Look at my treasure!

Christiana Marino found an identical pitcher to match that of her parents. She placed it by a still-life of her parents' pitcher.

When Christina Marino’s parents were married in 1939 they were given a large ceramic pitcher and a set of four juice glasses. After her parents’ deaths, the set, which was made by Bern Potteries in Czechoslovakia, was inherited by Marino’s sister.

“In 1997, my sister painted a picture of the juice set and sent me a photo of the painting,” Marino said. Marino’s sister sent a photograph to each of her siblings on their parents’ anniversary.

Last December, after wrapping and mailing gifts to her family, Marino stopped by Revival Lighting, a lighting retail and restoration specialty business in downtown Spokane. The store also sells antiques and collectibles, and as Marino browsed, she was startled to see a pitcher identical to the one that had been given to her parents.

Marino purchased the pottery pitcher and brought it home. Now she displays it with the photograph of her sister’s painting.
