Eastern women fall at Big Sky tourney

POCATELLO – Despite having five players in double figures, the Eastern Washington University women’s basketball team fell to the Weber State Wildcats 74-69 in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky tournament Thursday night.

Weber, the No. 5 seed in the tournament, advances to the semifinals where it will face No. 1 seed and host Idaho State.

Julie Page led the Eagles with 14 points. Leah Gonnella and Brittney Osborn added 12 points, while Joanna Chadd finished with 11. Felice Moore had 10 points and six rebounds.

Eastern Washington hit 7 of 18 3-pointers in the game and hit 16 of 17 free throws.

Weber State improves to 14-14, while the Eagles fall to 13-15.

Sara Tuomi led Weber State with 23 points and dished out six assists in the win, while Laura Porter had 18 points.

The Wildcats shot 50 percent from 3-point range and 53.8 percent from the field.
