Assault, robbery suspect arrested

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

A 21-year-old Spokane man who became a Secret Witness reward target Wednesday, after allegedly trying to rob and shoot a woman, was arrested Thursday and remained in jail Friday night in lieu of $250,000 bail.

No information was immediately available on whether a Secret Witness tip helped police apprehend Michael W. Flewell.

Flewell was targeted by the nonprofit organization after a judge issued a warrant charging him with first-degree assault with a firearm, attempted first-degree robbery, violation of a protection order and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

The ex-convict was accused of firing a shotgun at a woman he and a teenage boy allegedly attempted to rob shortly before midnight March 2 at Seventh and Ash.

The woman, who had ended a relationship with Flewell, said he fired at her as she fled in her car. The boy was taken into custody, but police were unable to find Flewell when the incident was reported.
