Enjoy barbecue chicken, support good causes

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and support two community groups, at a buffet dinner and fund-raiser Thursday at the Longhorn Barbecue, 2315 N. Argonne Road. Good food and music will be on the menu from 5 to 9 p.m.

The event will be hosted by the Evergreen Club and the West Valley Kiwanis. The music will range from Country Western to fiddle to bagpipes, said Kiwanis board member Red Weiler. There also will be an open mike session and background music provided by wandering fiddlers.

“We just kind of have music everywhere in the whole building,” he said.

Proceeds will be split between the two groups. Every year the Kiwanis use their share to support young musicians in the West Valley School District, Weiler said. In years past that has included buying instruments to be loaned to low-income students, buying choir robes and paying for music lessons.

The Evergreen Club, a nonprofit vocational rehabilitation program of Spokane Mental Health, will support its programs with the money it receives.

The buffet dinner is $15.95 per person or diners can choose items from the regular menu. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $1 each or six for $5. Call 458-7454 for more information.
