Events showcasing spring flowers are popping up all over the country. Here are a few of them:

•Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, April 1-30, Mount Vernon, Wash. Display gardens, plus art shows, farm tours and other attractions ( www.tulipfestival.org).

•Seventieth annual Dogwood Festival, April 7-9, Atlanta. Highlights include live music, an artist painting to rock music in front of an audience and a communal drumming tent (www.dogwood.org).

•EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival, April 21-June 11, Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Display gardens, topiary, seminars and live music. Admission: $63 for ages 10 and up; $52 for ages 3-9 (www.disneyworld.com/flower).

•Historic Garden Week in Virginia, April 22-29, sponsored by the Garden Club of Virginia. Tours of gardens everywhere from Mount Vernon and Monticello to postmodern mansions and private hunting estates (www.VAGardenweek.org).

•Tulip Time festival, May 4-6, Pella, Iowa. Hundreds of Dutch immigrants settled in the town in the 1800s and nearly 400,000 tulips are part of that heritage, along with windmills and a canal (www.pellatuliptime.com).

•Lilac Festival, May 17-21, Spokane. Parades, floats and endless varieties of blooming bushes (www.lilacfestival.org/).
