Thirteen students at Spokane Falls Community College took home ADDY awards at the recent student designer competition sponsored by the Spokane Advertising Federation.

Gold medal, sales promotion packaging: Travis Flory, Brenda Wilson.

Silver medal, sales promotion packaging: Kenneth Brewer, Kraig Kotchel, Ann Morgan, Jesse Scheller, Trista Soto.

Silver medal, sales promotion: Point of purchase, Phillip Warnock.

Gold medal and Best of Division, collateral material: Poster, Karli Fairbanks.

Silver medals, direct marketing: Anna Morgan, Jesse Scheller.

Silver medal, interactive media: Online advertising, Austin Anderson.

Silver medal, editorial design: Stefani Currer.

“ Two area residents recently graduated from basic military training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Army National Guard Pvt. Eric Sherman, a 2005 graduate of Gonzaga Prep, is the son of Scott and Cindy Sherman of Spokane.

Army Pvt. Steven Jones, a 2002 graduate of Shadle Park High School, is the son of Kenneth Jones of Spokane.

“ Army Reserve Sgt. Matthew Harvey of Spokane recently graduated from drill sergeant school at Fort Sill, Okla. He is with the 1st Brigade, 104th Division in Spokane and will be transferring to Fort Knox, Ky., to teach basic training.

“ Two area residents recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Airman 1st Class Shaun Bowlin, a 2001 graduate of Medical Lake High School, is the son of Alan Bowlin of Medical Lake.

Airman Patricia Buss, a 2005 graduate of Ferris High School, is the daughter of Roger Hatcher and Lori Flynn, both of Spokane.

“ Summer Agan was recently awarded the 2006 Edward Tsutakawa Scholarship. The award of $500 is given annually by the International Trade Alliance to a student studying international business and trade. Agan is a graduate student at Whitworth College studying in the international management program.

“ Bronze sculptor Jerry McKellar of Colville received the CEO Award for his sculpture “Coup Ponies” at the recent juried C.M. Russell Show in Great Falls. The winner is selected for technical merit and creativity. The sculpture is 36 inches high and depicts an Indian rider with three stolen ponies.

“ Aston Tennefoss of Spokane recently was named to the fall dean’s list at the University of Washington. He is a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.

“ Matthew Halloran of Newman Lake was recently named to the fall dean’s list at Northern Michigan University. Students must hold a grade-point average of 3.25 or higher to be named to the list.

Idaho

“ Emily Craner was recently awarded a $1,000 Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship. Craner, a senior at Sandpoint High School, was one of 102 student journalists selected for the national award. As part of the award she attended a conference in Washington, D.C. Craner is the daughter of Dan and Margaret Craner of Sagle, Idaho.

“ Jamie Murphy and Krista Brand, both of Coeur d’Alene, were recently awarded a $1,000 Toni Robideaux Scholarship from the Spokane Advertising Federation.

Murphy won the graphic design/set design category. She is studying graphic design/fine arts and theater at North Idaho College.

Brand, a recent NIC graduate, won in the graphic design category.
