Hot rods, hot dogs next Saturday at Opportunity Presbyterian

It’s time once again for the annual festival of cars, food and fun at Opportunity Presbyterian Church. The annual Car-B-Que will be next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event includes the Mortorama car show with classic cars, antiques, hot rods, motorcycles and even farm equipment.

In addition to barbecue, there also will be ice cream and family activities. Food prices will vary. Gardeners looking for a few new additions can check out the plant sale, and the mobile blood donation coach will be there. The church is at 202 N. Pines Road. Call 924-9750 for more information.

Pasta galore

• The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will host a PUFFS dinner just in time for carbo-loading Bloomsday runners. The dinner for People Under Fifty, Families and Singles will be at 5 p.m. today at the church, 15319 E. Eighth Ave. The meal is free.

• Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines Road will host a spaghetti feed followed by a worship service for Bloomies beginning at 6 p.m. today. The service will begin at 7. Donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of the meal.

• Millwood Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road, will put on its annual pre-Bloomsday spaghetti dinner and dessert auction today. The meal will be served from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors over 65, $3 for children age 5-11 or $16 per family. Proceeds will benefit the Harmony Bells Choir. The group plans to travel to a bell conference in June.

Bloomsday worship

Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will have a single worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday because of the Bloomsday run. This Sunday is also Valley Food Bank Sunday, when the congregation brings donations for the Valley Food Bank. The church is at 115 N. Raymond Road.

Ministry Auction

The Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene will host its annual Men’s and Women’s Ministry auction today. The silent auction will begin at 4:30 p.m. and bidding in the live auction will begin at 6. The church is at 15515 E. 20th.
