Shock’s televised games are changing channels

The Spokane Shock announced Tuesday that KAYU Fox 28 will televise the af2 team’s final four home games, starting June 3.

Spokane hosts Quad City at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Arena. That game will be aired on KGPX, channel 34 (channel 8 on Comcast cable).

Previously, televised Shock games had been shown on KQUP.

“Idaho’s Adam Korby is on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, awarded annually to the nation’s best college center. Korby started all 11 games last year.

Golf

Sung Ea Lee shot a 3-over-par 75 to lead the University of Washington during the opening round of the NCAA women’s golf championship at Ohio State University in Columbus.

Lee is tied for 33rd place, one shot and 13 places ahead of Huskies teammates Paige Mackenzie and Kim Shin. Leader Eileen Vargas of Pepperdine fired a 68.

USC (291) leads the team race.The Huskies are tied for 15th at 305.

“Aaron Biel of Community Colleges of Spokane shot a 4-under 68 to finish in second place at 141 in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges men’s championship at Walla Walla Veterans Golf Course.

Biel finished one shot behind Adam Alldredge of the host Warriors. Sasquatch teammates Chris Rall and Nick Cuchessi tied for 23rd at 153.

Walla Walla won the team title with a 570, 34 shots better than fourth-place CCS.

The CCS women finished at 487 to place second, 27 shots behind Tacoma, which boasted champion Pony Leung (148).

Kara Winey of CCS shot 162, two shots better than teammates Sadie Green and Molly Jensen.

Volleyball

Mike Bryant has been hired as an assistant coach for the University of Idaho. Bryant, originally from Edmonds, Wash., comes to Idaho from the University of Washington where he was the program coordinator.

Bryant also spent the past two years as a head coach and director of operations for the KJ Volleyball Club at Kent, Wash.

His 18-Baden team qualified for the Junior Olympic National Tournament this season.
