Wide range of churches will offer bazaars

This weekend no one will be at a loss to find a church bazaar.

Traditionally, all the churches that are planning a bazaar or a craft fair pick this weekend without fear of losing business to other churches in the neighborhood.

“We’ve found that a lot of people go bazaar hopping,” said Joan Schuman, the president of the Fowler United Methodist Women.

The group has been holding its bazaar since before Schuman was a member – over 34 years. The neighborhood has a few different churches to hit for crafts, baked goods and even a lunch that will be served at Fowler.

At St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, they’ve been serving up baked goods and crafts for 30 years.

“At one time it was tradition to hit all of them,” said Jackie Sachse, a longtime St. Mark’s member.

“We used to serve lunch, but now it’s just sweets and coffee,” Sachse said.
