Connecticut 46, Pittsburg 45 (2 OT): At East Hartford, Conn., D.J. Hernandez escaped a furious rush and scrambled into the end zone for a two-point conversion in the second overtime as the Huskies (4-5, 1-3 Big East) got the victory over the Panthers (6-4, 2-3).

Penn State 47, Temple 0: At State College, Pa., Tony Hunt had a career day with 167 yards rushing and four touchdowns and Derrick Williams scored a touchdown on a 75-yard punt return as the Nittany Lions (7-4) beat the Owls (1-10).

South

South Florida 27, Syracuse 10: At Tampa, Fla., Matt Grothe threw for a school-record 364 yards and two touchdowns to give the Bulls (7-3, 3-2) a win over the Orangemen (3-7, 0-5).

Clemson 20, N.C. State 14: At Clemson, S.C., C.J. Spiller ran for a career-high 154 yards and a touchdown as the Tigers (8-3, 5-3 ACC) held off the Wolfpack (3-7, 2-5) to secure the victory.

Kentucky 38, Vanderbilt 26: At Lexington, Ky., Andre Woodson threw for 450 yards and four touchdowns and Rafael Little rushed for 132 yards as the Wildcats (6-4, 4-3 SEC) beat the Commodores (4-7, 1-6).

East Carolina 33, Marshall 20: At Greenville, N.C., James Pinkney passed for more than 200 yards for the 22nd time in his career as the Pirates (6-4, 5-2 C-USA) got a victory over the Thundering Herd (4-6, 3-3).

Southern Mississippi 31, Tulane 3: At New Orleans, Damion Fletcher rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns as the Golden Eagles (6-4, 4-2 C-USA) got an easy victory over the Green Wave (3-7, 1-5).

Louisiana-Monroe 35, Florida International 0: At Miami, Calvin Dawson rushed for 129 yards and scored twice as the Warhawks (2-7, 1-4 Sun Belt) got the victory over the Golden Panthers (0-9, 0-4).

North Texas 16, Louisiana-Lafayette 7: At Lafayette, La., Casey Fitzgerald scored on a 36-yard pass to break open a tie game and the Mean Green (3-7, 2-3 SBC) were able to hold off the Ragin’ Cajuns (4-5, 1-3).

Central Florida 26, Memphis 24: At Memphis, Tenn., Steven Moffett threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns and Michael Torres kicked a trio of second-half field goals to lead the Golden Knights (3-7, 2-4 C-USA) to the win over the Tigers (1-9, 0-6).

Purdue 42, Illinois 31: At Champaign, Ill., Curtis Painter ran for two touchdowns and threw for another and the Boilermakers (7-4, 6-3 Big Ten) forced a season-high five turnovers to get the win over the Illini (2-9, 1-6).

Minnesota 31, Michigan State 18: At East Lansing, Mich., Bryan Cupito threw two second-half touchdowns to help the Golden Gophers (5-6, 2-5 Big Ten) beat the Spartans (4-7, 1-6).

Navy 49, Eastern Michigan 21: At Detroit, Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada ran for four touchdowns and threw for two more scores in only his third career start, as the Midshipmen (7-3) got the victory over the Eagles (1-9).

Oklahoma State 66, Baylor 24: At Stillwater, Okla., Keith Toston rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns as the Cowboys (6-4, 33 Big 12) won in a rout over the Bears (4-7, 3-4).

Houston 37, SMU 27: At Dallas, Anthony Aldridge ran for 225 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the Cougars (8-3, 6-1) to a win over the Mustangs (5-5, 3-3).

Rice 41, Tulsa 38 (2 OT): At Tulsa, Okla., Chase Clement threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jarett Dillard to lift the Owls (5-5, 4-2 C-USA) to a victory over the Golden Hurricane (7-3, 4-2) in the second overtime.

Middle Tennessee 38, Arkansas State 10: At Jonesboro, Ark., Bradley Robinson returned an interception 88 yards for a touchdown to help the Blue Raiders (7-3, 6-0 SBC) get the victory over the Indians (5-5, 3-2).

Utah 35, Colorado State 22: At Salt Lake City, Brett Ratliff passed for 296 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Utes (6-4, 4-2) to a win over the Rams (4-6, 1-5).

Colorado 33, Iowa State 16: At Boulder, Colo., Bernard Jackson threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score as the Buffaloes (2-9, 2-5 Big 12) got a win over the Cyclones (3-8, 0-7).

TCU 27, New Mexico State 21: At Albuquerque, N.M., Tommy Blake returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown to lead the Horned Frogs (7-2, 3-2 MWC) as they held off the Lobos (5-5, 3-3).

San Diego State 21, UNLV 7: At San Diego, backup quarterback Kevin O’Connell completed all seven of his passes and rushed for a touchdown as the Aztecs (2-7, 2-3 MWC) beat the Rebels (1-9, 0-6).
