The Slice

The Slice The Spokesman-Review

Children learn all sorts of things from television.

Take Nona Kaye Clark’s 5-year-old granddaughter, for instance.

After watching an oft-aired commercial for a Spokane lawyer, the kid ran into the kitchen and told her mom some exciting news. “I know how you can buy me all the toys I want,” she exclaimed.

Her mother asked for details.

“One call, that’s all!” said the little girl.

Sure. Why not? Soak insurance companies for toy purchases.

The child might be missing something. But who knows? Perhaps having to do without all the toys she wants constitutes compensable pain and suffering.

Or not.

“Sadly, just another lesson learned,” said Clark. “You can’t believe everything adults say on TV.”
