Cassie Scheffelmaier scored 13 points and added eight rebounds, five assists and three steals Tuesday to guide Kootenai past visiting St. Maries 44-27 in a non-league, season-opening contest at Harrison.

Hannah Nyrop added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors.

In other non-league games, Coeur d’Alene’s junior varsity outscored host Wallace (0-1) 25-6 in the first quarter and beat the Miners 79-46. Cara Hayman led Wallace with 18 points and five assists. … Fawn Story had 21 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks to lead host Mullan (1-0) past the Lake City freshmen 41-36. Kaitlin Valario added 13 points for the Tigers. … Kandice McArthur and Heather Arnone both scored 10 points as Post Falls beat visiting Priest River 69-37 in a season opener for both. … Marisa Bush had eight points and 10 rebounds as Kellogg (2-0) beat visiting Lakeland (0-1) 39-22.
