Under her skin, and spitting mad

Avril Lavigne has agreed that spitting at the paparazzi is probably not a good thing to do.

Lavigne, who reportedly spat at pesky photographers twice last week in separate L.A. incidents involving her and husband Deryck Whibley of Sum 41, has apologized for her “behavior with the paparazzi.”

However, her apology, posted on her Web site, indicated it was her fans to whom she “meant no offense” – not the paparazzi.

She also said her behavior was “a reaction to the persistent attack from the paparazzi,” adding that “it’s trying at best dealing with their insistent intrusions.”

Lavigne and Whibley married in July after having dated since early 2004, which is the same year she released her latest album, “Under My Skin.”

Well, Leonardo, we believe

Paparazzi, beware – George Clooney has a plan to put celebrity-snapping photographers out of business.

“I want to spend every single night for three months going out with a different famous actress,” Clooney tells Vanity Fair magazine. “You know, Halle Berry one night, Salma Hayek the next, and then walk on the beach holding hands with Leonardo DiCaprio.

“People would still buy the magazines, they’d still buy the pictures, but they would always go, ‘I don’t know if these guys were putting us on or not.’ “

Deadbeating around the bush

A Massachusetts family judge has ordered Bobby Brown arrested if the singer sets foot in the state after he failed to show for a hearing over delinquent child support payments.

His attorney called it a “very difficult time” for Brown, whose tumultuous marriage to Whitney Houston is coming to an end.

“Whether or not he’s going through a divorce doesn’t negate the fact that he still owes child support relative to his two children that he had prior to his marriage,” the judge replied.

Kim Ward, the mother of two of Brown’s children, says he owes two months’ support, or $11,000.

Or is that 25 to life?

Pop star George Michael was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana after police found him slumped over the steering wheel of his car in London in the wee hours.

Michael recently gave his first solo concert in 15 years, a show in Spain kicking off his new tour, “25 Live.”

Reading between the lines

Eric Clapton is playing “Cocaine” again.

The recovering drug addict and alcoholic stopped performing the song when he first got sober, fearing it might send the wrong message.

“But further investigation proved … the song, if anything, if it’s not even ambivalent, it’s an anti-drug song,” he says. “And so I thought that might be a better way to do it, to approach it from a more positive point of view.”

His band shouts out “dirty cocaine” during the tune.
