Centralized community donation drop set up at Eden’s

Christopher Rodkey Staff writer

A few community members have set up a one-stop donation center for many Spokane Valley-area charities and nonprofits.

“We would like to help the community since it’s getting close to the holidays,” said organizer Marlene Reagan, who has been working to coordinate several donation drop-offs into one spot at the Eden’s Flea Market, off Barker Road at 3522 N. Eden Road.

Reagan, who has received volunteer help from Central Valley High School student Brittney Olds, has placed barrels for donations to the Spokane Valley Food Bank, SCRAPS animal shelter, Toys For Tots, and Coats 4 Kids. A local Girl Scout troop raising money for a European trip is also represented, as is a donation center for the Spokane Guilds’ School, Reagan said.

The whole idea of a donation center started with Reagan’s attempts to raise money for the Guilds’ School, she said. After finding she could raise funds for the school, she decided to branch out.

“I love doing community things like this,” Reagan said.

Eden’s Flea Market is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays, Reagan said.
