Tired of Hagadone’s Palm Desert saga? Move along

Fan E-Mail: “I am new to the area, again (with a six-year stint prior) and enjoy the Spokesman very much, as opposed to other papers available. I read your column with curiosity. You appear to spend most of your space, and ink, attacking people you know will not defend themselves. It is becoming increasingly difficult for me to take you seriously as a journalist. Honestly, a table of filthy rich ‘posh, pampered, spoiled’ Aspen socialites discussing the horizon in a place we’ll never live (re: complaints about Duane Hagadone’s Palm Desert digs, Huckleberries Tuesday) … big deal. Sounds like the Enquirer. He has more money than we do, we know. Report the news, make us laugh, make us cry, make us think … for God’s sake, get over it. You are sounding like a hatemonger, and I question your intentions and certainly do not understand the premise. You have a column and don’t like the competition, we get it.” – jon@edgewoodlog.com.

DFO: Jon raises a good point. I’m sure – wink – that few locals are interested in the Palm Desert trials of Coeur d’Alene’s No. 1 son. Pause, for effect. Now, for the latest news about the Dust-up in the Desert: On a 2-1 vote with one abstention Tuesday, the Palm Desert Planning Commission approved an expansion of the graded area of Hagadone’s mansion to 61,000 square feet (about an acre and a half). The Duane needed the extra room for a 190-foot swimming pool and a 1,500-square-foot sports court.
