Area artist’s drawings at NIC gallery

The Spokesman-Review

Northwest artist Katherine Nelson’s drawings are on display through Oct. 27 in an exhibit titled “More Inspiration” in the North Idaho College Boswell Hall Corner Gallery.

The exhibit includes charcoal drawings based on aerial photographs of the Palouse taken by Nelson, who lives in Colbert, as well as landscapes of a road that bends through the wheat fields in her backyard.

In this exhibit, Nelson also cuts and rearranges old art works to create new images with the pieces. The gallery exhibit also includes drawings based on photographs taken of ravens in which the birds take on human qualities and situations.

Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in art education from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and a master’s degree in drawing from New York State University in Albany. Corner Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free. For more information, call 769-3276.
