Girls soccer

East Valley (4-5, 4-3) outscored Ferris (9-2, 5-1) 7-6 in a shootout Friday as the Knights beat the Saxons 1-0 in Greater Spokane League play at EV.

No goals were scored in regulation or overtime.

Hannah Krogseth made 11 saves for the Knights.

In other league action, Averi Hallman and Tiara Pittman scored two goals apiece to lead visiting Mt. Spokane (7-2, 5-1) to a 5-1 win over Central Valley (3-7, 1-5). Anne Weisbeck scored the Bears’ lone goal. … Marissa Mykines broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 71st minute to guide Mead (8-1, 5-1) to a 2-1 victory over host Lewis and Clark (4-6, 2-5) at Hart Field. Mead is tied with Ferris and Mt. Spokane for first place in the GSL standings. … Megan Lindsay and Stacy Hamer scored first-half goals to lead host Gonzaga Prep (6-3, 4-2) to a 2-1 win over Shadle Park (4-4, 4-3). Caitlin Davis assisted on both of those goals. … Abby Goss scored a goal off an assist from Rachel Lopez in the 63rd minute as University (7-5, 4-3) knocked off host North Central (2-6, 1-5) 1-0. The Titans dominated the action, outshooting the Indians 12-3.

Volleyball

Host St. Maries (7-0) came back from a 14-11 deficit in the fifth game and beat Kellogg (5-2) 23-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17, 18-16 in Intermountain League action. Shawna Heath led the Lumberjacks with 23 kills.
