Octobrewfest to benefit local MS society

Head to the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St., on Saturday for the 11th annual Octobrewfest Microbrew Tasting and Auction.

The doors open at 5:30 p.m., and you must be 21 years of age or older to attend. Northwest microbrews, wine and gourmet root beers will be available for sampling.

Live and silent auction items include golf packages, wine tasting parties and microbrew dinners.

Tickets are $12 in advance or $14 at the door. Proceeds benefit the Inland Northwest Chapter, National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Cancer benefit dinner

From 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, have dinner at Pasedena Park Elementary School, 8508 E. Upriver Drive, to benefit Greg Knapp, a longtime Spokane resident battling stage III multiple myeloma.

Cost of the dinner, which includes a silent auction, is $10 per person or $25 for a family of four. Proceeds will help Knapp and his family pay for the costly procedures he will have to undergo at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.

AAUW coffeehouse

If you find yourself in Colville on Saturday, stop by the Ag Trade Center at 7 p.m. for “The Coffeehouse” to benefit the American Association of University Women.

This year’s event includes jazz, classical and contemporary rock music. Snacks, soda, tea, coffee, beer and wine will also be available, catered by Acorn Saloon and Feeding Station.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and $8 for children 12 and under, available at the door.

Proceeds benefit local and national college and graduate scholarships for women.
